Safety
Your safety comes first. Use this page as a checklist before you meet someone new, and lean on the tools we built into iDateHabesha.
Before you meet in person
- Meet in a public place the first few times — a busy café, restaurant, or park during daylight.
- Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location if you can.
- Arrange your own transportation both ways. Do not let someone you just met pick you up from home.
- Stay sober enough to make safe decisions. Watch your drink at all times.
Protect your personal information
- Keep your full home address, workplace, school, and daily routine private until trust is built.
- Never share your national ID, passport, banking details, or one-time codes.
- Be careful with photos that reveal your home, license plate, or kids.
Watch for scams and red flags
Be cautious of anyone who:
- asks for money, gift cards, crypto, or wire transfers — for any reason;
- claims an emergency that only you can solve financially;
- pushes hard to move to WhatsApp, Telegram, or email very quickly;
- refuses to video call or meet in person after weeks of chatting;
- uses photos that look too polished, inconsistent, or stolen.
Scammers often build trust over weeks before asking. If something feels off, it usually is.
Use the safety tools in iDateHabesha
- Report a profile or conversation that violates our guidelines.
- Block anyone you never want to interact with again.
- Unmatch when a connection no longer feels right.
- Mute notifications from a specific conversation.
- Delete chat history on your side when you want a clean slate.
- Notification controls for likes, matches, messages, voice messages, and safety alerts in your profile settings.
Trust your instincts
You never owe anyone a conversation, a meeting, or an explanation. If you feel uncomfortable, leave. If you feel unsafe, get to a public place and call for help.
In an emergency
If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services right away. iDateHabesha cannot dispatch emergency responders. Once you are safe, report what happened to us at support@idatehabesha.com so we can act on the account.
