This policy explains, in plain language, what information iDateHabesha collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to be clear and honest — it is not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Account information you provide at sign-up: email, password (stored hashed), preferred language, and date of birth used only to confirm you are 18+.
- Profile details you choose to share: display name, bio, gender, who you are interested in, Habesha background, languages, religion, education, profession, interests, and relationship goals.
- Profile photos you upload to your profile.
- Location information at the city, state, and country level. Precise coordinates are coarsened before they are stored.
- Activity needed to run the app: likes, passes, matches, messages, voice messages, and read receipts.
- Device and notification data: push subscription endpoint, device platform, and basic browser information.
- Safety data: reports you submit, blocks you create, and moderation decisions taken on your account.
How we use your information
- To create your account and keep it secure.
- To show you potential matches and let other members discover you.
- To deliver messages, voice messages, and notifications.
- To operate safety features: reporting, blocking, unmatching, and content moderation.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To detect fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers that help us run the app — for example, cloud hosting, push notification delivery, and verification review. They may only use the data to perform that service for us. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our members.
Your controls
- Edit your profile at any time from your profile settings.
- Manage notifications for likes, matches, messages, voice messages, and safety alerts.
- Block, unmatch, and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
- Hide from Discover or pause your profile.
- Request account deletion from the Delete Account page.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, we remove your profile from Discover and matches and begin the deletion process. Some information may be retained for a limited period to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of other members.
Children
iDateHabesha is for adults 18 and older only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the app, report the profile or email us immediately.
