Data Handling

This page explains how iDateHabesha stores and handles the information connected to your account. For the full picture of what we collect and why, read the Privacy Policy.

What we store

  • Account record: email, hashed password, language preference, and 18+ confirmation.
  • Profile: display name, bio, gender, who you are interested in, Habesha background, languages, religion, education, profession, interests, and relationship goals.
  • Photos: profile photos you upload.
  • Location: city, state, and country. Precise coordinates are coarsened before they are stored so your exact location is not retained.
  • Activity: likes, passes, matches, messages, voice messages, and read receipts that make matching and conversations work.
  • Push subscriptions: the device endpoint needed to deliver notifications you have opted in to.
  • Safety records: reports you have submitted, blocks you have created, and moderation actions taken on your account.

How matches, messages, and voice notes are handled

  • Likes and passes are private to you; the other person is only informed if you both like each other.
  • Matches and conversations are visible to the two members involved and, when necessary, to our trust and safety team while reviewing a report.
  • Voice messages are stored securely and delivered only inside the matched conversation.
  • Read receipts are visible to the other participant in the conversation when enabled.

How push notifications use your data

  • A push subscription is created only after you grant permission.
  • It contains a device-specific endpoint and keys used to deliver a notification — it does not contain message contents that are not necessary to render the notification.
  • You can disable any notification category at any time from notification settings, or revoke permission from your device.

Safety and report data

  • Reports, blocks, and moderation actions are kept so we can investigate patterns, prevent retaliation, and protect other members.
  • The person you report is not told you reported them.

Deletion

  • You can request account deletion at any time from the Delete Account page.
  • Once requested, your profile is removed from Discover and matches and the deletion process begins.
  • Some information may be retained for a limited time to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud and abuse, or protect the safety of other members. After that period it is removed.
